I may be getting a little ahead of myself. I have downloaded the C software but havne't had a chance to look at it as my Windows computer needs fixing so I have't had a chanse to look at the compilier.

I'm new to this and am wondering what is involved in programming a PIC. I want to make a device to act as a pH meter/datalogger with a display and perhaps an IR port.

My electronics experience consists of being able to identify electronic parts, follow a schematic and put them together. I don't know the theory of math of the circuits. Does programming a PIC require me to create the functioning of a device through code or are the devices availble in code libraries and I just sort of hook them together similar to hardware equivalents.

Essentially you program a PIC from scratch, although many functions are available for you to download - FAR more in assembler than C, and it's really essential to have a reasonable understanding of assembler, even if you use C.

All the individual pieces you need for a datalogger are included in my tutorials, it's just a question of putting them together to do what you want.
