Hi All,

I've built the P16PRO40 a couple of years ago but it's only now that I've had a play with it for various reasons. To be honest, I'm not sure if it's working properly.

What's the best way of testing it?

I downloaded Nigel's software, installed it and the serial port driver. The software detects the programmer all right but it doesn't seem to be reading the devices correctly. I put a PIC12F509 in the ZIF, selected the appropriate device from the list and told it to read the device. All I got was pages of FF, according to the datasheet, I should expect to see the oscillator calibration value.

I tried programming it with a simple piece of code to flash an LED, see PDF linked below and I get an error about the oscillator calibration value which indicates to me that the device is not being read correctly so I didn't proceed incase I erase the value on the PIC.

Is this all wrong?

I'll recheck all the connections but I'm loathed to do it because it's all bolted together inside a nice enclosure and disassembling it will be time consuming.

By the way, the LEDs flash when I try to read the device in the socket.

I'll go though the PCB artwork, give it one last check before I consider disassembling it.

I'll find out which LEDs flash, when I look at the artwor - I can't remember which is which!

Hopefully someone will be able to help when I get more information.l
