Nigel, et.al:
Please excuse the off-topic question.
I have RS232 code working on my PIC. I have my 9 pin serial port wired as shown on the RS232 hardware page.
With some other terminal programs I can "talk" to my PIC fine. Even with only a transmit and a ground pin connected at the PC.
I can create a file with my input and send it directly to the serial port on the PC (i.e. type input.txt>com1:) and it works.
But no matter what, Hyperterminal won't work.
All the communication settings are correct (same) in both, specifically 9600,N,8,1,no flow control. I tried ANSI, VT100, and TTY terminal types, nada.
My concern is why hyperterminal won't work. When someone else uses my device, I'd like for them to be able to use hyperterminal since most PC users will already own it.
Anyone else already run into this or know the casue. Must be something in Hyperterminal or somethign it expects to see since it works otherwise, same cables, same PC, same port, etc.?
Thanks, Scott |

| Well, I tried a different PC and it works with hyperterminal fine on it. Must be something hosed in Hyperterminal on that PC. Nevermind, unless you know what it is <smile> |
